We started the school holidays off with a little trip back in time to Ballarat, a beautiful historic town in regional Victoria. I’ve been meaning to take the kids to Sovereign Hill for a while now and figured while we are out of lockdown and allowed to travel regionally it’s time. I hadn’t been to Sovereign Hill (an open-air museum that depicts Ballarat’s first ten years after the discovery of gold there in 1851) since a school trip nearly thirty years ago. I felt I enjoyed it even more as an adult! After that we stayed at the beautiful Provincial Hotel for a night which was in keeping with our old world theme and spent the following day exploring the Botanical Gardens and Lake Wendouree precinct. On the way home we swung by The Mill vintage markets and stopped for lunch at the Beechworth Bakery in town. We crammed so many special memories into these two days. Absolute heaven.
Thanks for having us Ballarat!
