A Long Weekend at Miss Morris, Mount Martha

I’ve had Rachel’s cute house ‘Miss Morris’ on my long weekend wishlist ever since I saw an article about it earlier this year. As luck would have it, it was free over the Melbourne Cup long weekend, so we headed to the beach for a little bit of fresh, salty air and fun.

What a welcome!

My favourite beach houses are the humble, fibro, no-nonsense oldies. The more of a shack it is, the better. Loaded with character, Miss Morris is the sweetest combination of simple, retro, fibro beach shack meets fun, contemporary makeover but still with that shabby exterior charm.

We had a wonderful stay playing board games, video games, bouncing on the trampoline, flying kites on the beach, eating delicious gelati in nearby Mornington and relaxing on the sunny porch back at the house. Magic.

We spent many hours here watching movies and playing games together ❤️

Those tiles.

The kids want ‘spinny’ kitchen chairs now.

I live here now 😜

My shoes fit right in.

Cutest porch.

The coffee table of my dreams ✨️

Those curves.

Love a pink door and round window

Love a crowded bunk room. So much fun for the kids. Look at all that beautiful linen!

We made the most of the one warm and sunny day we had with a day at the beach then on the cooler day we hit up an amazing place called Enchanted Adventure Park in Arthur’s Seat, only a twenty minute drive from the house.

Sand castle incoming!

Lapping up that spring sunshine

Enchanted Adventure Park was really awesome. The kids had a ball but us grown ups enjoyed it too. The gardens were beautifully maintained and everything was so lush. We took a picnic and sat in the gardens to eat. The tube slides were epic…. much faster than I was expecting. We were very lucky to visit on a quiet day and have the park practically to ourselves!

We made the most of some perfect kite flying weather down at Mount Martha beach on Sunday afternoon as a change in the weather made its way through.

Eva’s cool new mini kite worked a treat.

We were also still at Miss Morris for Halloween and the kids were desperate to go trick or treating so we got dressed up and went for a little trick or treat walk then went to a lovely Halloween bonfire festival in nearby Dromana where they had marshmallow roasting, damper making, a sausage sizzle and hundreds of people in their awesome costumes. It was really fun to spend the evening with the local community and help raise money for the CFA (Country Fire Authority) and local clubs like the Rotary and Scouts.

Trick or treat ready!

What a brilliant long weekend we ended up having in the perfect accommodation. It was just what the doctor ordered. I even managed an afternoon nap on Monday… what a treat.

Afternoon G & T, Miss Morris style!

Making myself right at home.

On our last morning we went for a little walk over the road from Miss Morris to have a look at the wild, choppy water down at the breakwater and walked through the bush pretending we were in the game Jumanji as we’d watched it the night before.

Moody morning walk ⛈️

The colours 😍

As with all our holidays we made sure we researched the best local icecream and bakeries by way of copious consumption 😂

So many cute shops in Mornington main street about a ten minute drive away.

Thanks for having us Mount Martha, you were a dream as always. We’ll be back. Highly recommend a little stay at Miss Morris too if you’re heading down the peninsula way.
